A wide-ranging survey of beautiful Classic-period and 20th-century works by some of Ireland’s finest musicians. This group of acclaimed performers is bound by their connection with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and as such are known not only as great performers but also as outstanding pedagogues. Hugh Tinney and Christopher Marwood have played for Con Brio on many occasions and it is a pleasure to have them back with their esteemed colleagues.

Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio was written for the unusual combination of clarinet, viola and piano while The Shepherd on the Rock, possibly Schubert’s last vocal
work, is for the similarly unusual grouping of voice, clarinet and piano. Beethoven’s String Trios are among the true gems of the Classical period and tonight’s
example will add wit and charm to the programme.

Piazzolla’s music should need no introduction – its wonderful combination of classical sensibility with tango style has made it incredibly popular over the last 20 years, and Venezuelan Reynaldo Hahn’s gorgeous songs are all too rarely heard these days.
