Cappa Ensemble
The Cappa Ensemble comprises of 4 prize-winning graduates from the Royal Academy of Music, London and the Paderewski Academy of Music in Poland. As a former string quartet, they enjoyed considerable success at the Royal Overseas League Competition and the Tillett Trust Young Artist Platform and enjoyed a busy concert schedule performing to audiences throughout the U.K. making their Wigmore Hall debut in October 2007. Their rapid development has been helped by extensive studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Royal Academy of Music, and the International Musicians Seminar and with renowned musicians such as Tatjana Masurenko, Ana Chumachenco, Alexander Rudin and the Artemis String Quartet. The Cappa Ensemble currently hold an Artist Fellowship at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London and at the Reine Elisabeth College of Music in Waterloo, Belgium.
In July 2008, they evolved into a chamber ensemble with a focus on a combination of both string trio and piano quartet idioms. The Ensemble has recently toured extensively in Australasia and Japan during which they made their Suntory Hall debut in Tokyo performing Shubert’s “Trout” Quintet and Bliss’ Oboe Quintet. They performed at the Wigmore Hall and subsequently in Singapore, New Zealand and Australia in conjunction with Royal Over-Seas League Arts. Future engagements include performances in Ireland, the U.K., Belgium, Switzerland and Spain.
The Cappa Ensemble, who take their name from the famous 17th century Italian violin-maker Gioffredo Cappa, currently play on a variety of fine instruments which are kindly on loan from both private sponsors, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and The Royal Academy of Music. They include a 1695 Cappa violin, a Ceruti viola c.1800 and a Vuillaume cello c.1840.
