Cara O Sullivan, sopranoCara O’Sullivan has become an artist with an impeccable operatic pedigree and has risen to prominence as one of Ireland’s leading sopranos.  She is an instinctive performer with a remarkably full voice, exciting and dramatic, yet always performs with great sensitivity.  She has shown herself to be a fearless vocal artist, whether singing Mozart, Verdi, Donizetti or Puccini.

Cara’s operatic engagements have taken her all over the world, performing with Glyndebourne on Tour, The Royal Opera House, Welsh National Opera, Garsington Opera, Opera de Nantes, Opera da Vlaamse, Opera North, Opera Ireland, Opera 2005, Lyric Opera Dublin, Opera de Paris and English National Opera.

Her US debut as Queen of Night at the Cincinnati Festival Opera was a huge success and the Cincinnati press enthused – “Cara O’Sullivan dominated her scenes with a voice of steel and sparkle, and practically pulls you from your seat!!”

Cara’s concert career spans an impressive and wide-ranging repertoire.  Her concert performances have included the Palau Musica, Barcelona, The O2 Dublin, the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican, Ely Cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral, Salisbury Cathedral, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam; Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, and the Birmingham Symphony Hall.  Cara performed in Le Conservatoire du Nice, at the Cultural Concert Hall Singapore, The Burswood Theatre Perth and Sydney Opera House, Australia.

Engagements in the 2009/10 season included concerts in Kolkata, India, Verdi’s Requiem with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra; BBC ‘Proms in the Park’ with The Ulster Orchestra at City Hall Park, Belfast; Bellini’s Norma for Lyric Opera, Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera for Opera 2005, Mozart’s Don Giovanni for Opera Ireland, Lucia di Lammermoor for Lyric Opera Dublin, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Brahms’ Requiem with the Irish Youth Choir and Irish Youth Orchestra. Cara also performed a series of concerts in the west coast of the United States including Scottsdale Arizona, and Los Angeles California, as well as an Ireland-wide Music Network concert tour in December 2010, accompanied by pianist Ciara Moroney.

Cara’s CD, CARADIVA has raised over €300,000 for her favourite charity, Marymount Hospice in Cork.
