Love, Longing and Consolation
We are delighted to welcome Sharon Carty, acclaimed mezzo-soprano and Artistic Director of the Sligo Baroque Music Festival, for her first appearance with Con Brio. She is joined by the distinguished pianist Finghin Collins, a familiar favourite with our audiences, and renowned cellist Robin Michael. Together they present an evocative programme spanning the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. From the poignant lyricism of Schubert’s Auf dem Strom and Brahms’s deeply expressive songs for voice, cello and piano, to operatic gems by Handel, Gluck and Berlioz, the programme explores themes of love, longing, consolation and remembrance. Instrumental masterpieces by Beethoven and Debussy showcase the rich partnership of cello and piano, while songs by Massenet add further colour and intimacy to an evening of exceptional chamber music.
