This evening’s programme presents a range of lyrical music, from the deceptive simplicity of Mozart and Prokofiev’s beguiling Neo-Classicality to more contemporary explorations of the lyrical impulse, including a new work by British neo-tonalist Peter Seabourne.

Selected as the National Concert Hall Ireland’s Rising Star 2006, Elizabeth Cooney has played with many distinguished partners at the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, London, the Victoria Hall, Geneva, the Weill Hall at Carnegie, New York and festivals including Brighton Festival, West Cork Chamber Music Festival and most recently Cristina Ortiz’ festival in Bordeaux, France. Elizabeth performs a very wide spectrum of repertoire spanning from the baroque era to contemporary composers.

Elisaveta Blumina
Dublin-based Pianist Elisaveta Blumina was born in St. Petersburg and began studying piano at the Conservatoire “Rimsky-Korsakov”. She made her highly acclaimed solo debut at the age of sixteen with the first piano concerto by Brahms, accompanied by the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra. Since then her career has taken off with many international engagements including concerts in some of the world’s major concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Laeisz-Halle in Hamburg and the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York. Ms. Blumina has been guest soloist with the Dresden Philharmonic, the Moscow Virtuosi, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Hamburg Philharmonic etc.
