Con Brio Music Series 2021-2022

Dear Friends,
It is with a deep sense of relief that we are finally in a position to bring great music in live performance back to our audiences in Sligo. Many of you have spoken to us about your feeling of loss and longing for the return of live music. Musicians have suffered greatly from the complete absence of performance income as well as from their inability to engage with you – their audience.

Con Brio would like to thank the Arts Council, Sligo County Council, The Model and all our sponsors, patrons and friends for continuing to support us during these difficult times. Your support has enabled us to present a full programme of seven concerts for the 2021-2022 season.

Calry Church, The Mall  and Sligo Methodist Church provided venues for the three Autumn concerts.  2022 sees us return to The Model for the next three concerts. The final concert, The Irish Baroque Orchestra, will be staged in the Hawk’s Well Theatre on the eve of its closure for planned renovations.

We welcome back some old friends i.e. Finghin Collins, the Vanbrugh and Michael McHale, The Callino Quartet and The Irish Baroque Orchestra. New to Con Brio audiences are the upcoming Irish pianist Cahal Masterson, exceptional saxophonist Amy Dickson and her trio and the Lir Quartet, one of Ireland’s most exciting young string quartets.

Five concerts will feature pieces by Irish composers – Siobhan Cleary, John Kinsella, Linda Buckley, Ronan Guilfoyle and Eric Sweeney.

We look forward to enjoying the upcoming season of events with you our old friends and new audience members. Hopefully you will be able to attend all or at least most events, to share the uplifting experience of hearing great music played by outstanding musicians.

It is our fervent hope that you will enjoy our offerings for the 2021-2022 season.
Deirdre (Co-ordinator), Luisa, Felim, John, Maura and Seamus.
